What are My Contacts?
FullContact's My Contacts are those contacts that you have designated to sync with FullContact on your Settings page (or have chosen to explicitly add to My Contacts).
If you've connected your Twitter, Foursquare, or Xing address book, My Contacts will be automatically updated by contacts from connected social network sources.
For example, if you have a contact in your My Contacts (let's call him John Smith) and John also follows you on Twitter, his Twitter handle will be synced/added to his contact in your My Contacts. So, instead of having two John Smith contacts (one with John's email and one with John's Twitter handle), you have one John Smith contact with both an email address and a Twitter handle.
If you've imported your LinkedIn contacts and/or have imported a CSV/vCard file of contacts, you have two options: either set your LinkedIn address book or imported file to Update Existing OR Add as New; these are called sync settings (see the next question).
Lastly, My Contacts is the specified address book in your account that we will search for updates and duplicates.
What are sync settings?
FullContact offers two settings for your connected address books (Google Contacts, iCloud, and Exchange): ON or OFF (see image above).
This can be set for each individual address book. If toggled on, it means contacts will be added to your My Contacts list, as well as combined with any other connected address books also set to on. These contacts will sync back to your connected sources. In other words, for as many address books that you've connected (and turned syncing on for), expect that they will match/mirror each other.
If toggled off, you are essentially making that connected source a part of your FullContact account, but those contacts will only be used to update existing contacts in your My Contacts. The changes you make to these contacts will sync bi-directionally, but not with your My Contacts. In other words, they are kept separate from My Contacts unless you manually add these contacts to your My Contacts.
Lastly, if you choose Update Existing instead of Add as New when importing your LinkedIn address book or a CSV/vCard file, we will only update your existing My Contacts with contacts in your imported file. However, if you choose to Add as New, expect that all contacts in your imported file will get added to your My Contacts. If there's overlap, FullContact will de-dupe your My Contacts.

How do I know which sync settings are right for me?
If you're looking to combine all of your address books (work/personal email sources), turn syncing on on your Settings page. This will ensure that each address book has the same contacts. So, if you make a change/edit to a contact in one address book (let's say it's your personal Google Contacts account), that change will also sync to your other connected/synced sources (let's say that's your work Exchange address book).
For LinkedIn (and any other file you import), it depends on whether you want ALL of the contacts in your LinkedIn address book/imported file to be added to your My Contacts.
For example, if you have your personal Google Contacts account connected/synced to FullContact and you don't want ALL of your LinkedIn contacts to be added to your My Contacts/Google Contacts, choose Update Existing. However, if you want all of your LinkedIn contacts added to your My Contacts, choose Add as New.
Remember, even if your choose Update Existing, you can always manually add contacts to your My Contacts.
How long does it take for a contact to sync?
If you're on a Basic (free) FullContact account, each sync session occurs approximately every 24 hours.
If you're on a Premium (paying) FullContact account, each sync session occurs approximately every 15 minutes.

What if I go over my limit of contacts?
When you have exceeded your limit of contacts (on either the Basic or Premium plan), you will get a notification in your FullContact address book letting you know. A few features will also be disabled when going over your limit.
When over your limit you will not be able to add additional contacts or sources. We will also stop syncing across all accounts and any read-only sources you have connected.
To remove this, you can either delete specific contacts, disconnect sources, or remove social contact sources. If you are on the Basic version of FullContact, you can also upgrade your account to the Premium to manage over 1,000 contacts. FullContact Premium version allows you to sync up to 25,000 contacts. You can find our pricing page here.
Keep in mind that because of Google Contacts' storage limits, we cap the storage for all FullContact address books at 25,000.
If I delete a contact on a social network, does that remove the relationship with the contact through the network?
No. Social networks are considered 'read-only,' so we cannot delete contacts on that specific social network. If you are wanting to remove contacts from a social network, you would have to do this on the specific social network.
For example, if you remove a contact from your Twitter address book, that will not unfollow that contact in your Twitter account.
